Q. Tell me a little bit about your experience and interest in the fashion industry.
A. I have been building lifestyle brands for a great many years--many blue-chip media brands and several consumer products/ecommerce brands that have always had a fashion component --whether it be influenced by fashion or involved directly with the fashion industry.
Q. Why did you decide to start teaching for the MPS in Fashion Marketing program? Why LIM?
I have always been teaching as I've lead so many teams. It's a natural quality that I'm pleased I have a knack for. I was glad when LIM offered me the opportunity to help shape and inspire young minds. I've always taught in business so I'm glad to be able to continue the practice in a more formal disciplined setting.
Q. How does your program at LIM stand out from other college/universities?
Diamonds are a girls' (and guys') best friend. As I'm Heidi Diamond--that's my calling card--Diamonds shine bright, are multi-faceted, are a natural material, full of luster, rare and valuable......definitely my USP.
Q. What is your favorite class to teach and why?
A. I love teaching Global Marketing, PR, Management, and Branding. The principals and practices of building a brand (and sustaining it's success) is always evolving and I love sharing my past experiences as well as adapting current principals and practices.
Q. What advice do you have for students who want to pursue a career in ( publishing, merchandising, marketing, etc.)?
Intern, build your network, find mentors to help you along the way. Wear leather to big meetings, kill with kindness, play fair, taste everything, use perfume as a weapon, always accept cashmere and radiate intelligence!!
Q. Name a fun fact about yourself:
I have been to jail (to visit Martha Stewart when I was President of Television at Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia), I've climbed Kilimanjaro, Machu Pichu, as well as volcanoes in Chile.
