Here are a few tips that may make the transition from grad school at LIM a little easier.
Get involved at LIM. Whether it be attending orientations, joining clubs, or attending events, get involved. It will help you get more acquainted with the school and meet new people. Being involved is never a bad thing. It will help build a good resume that could show employers you can handle a lot.
Make friends. Friends will make all the difference through grad school. Most people are experiencing the same emotions and troubles as you are, so get out there and make friends!
Get organized. Time is of the essence! Keep track of everything you need to do. You can use planners, your phone, a notebook, anything! Whatever it takes so that you know what is due and submit all assignments on time.
Time management. Trying to balance grad school and work can be tough. Time management will be extremely helpful in making your semesters a lot smoother. Always plan ahead to make sure you are always on top of your work!
Don’t procrastinate! Stay ahead in the semester as much as possible. One fall behind can be major. Make sure to give yourself a deadline to complete all your work and stick to it.
Get to know your professors. Take advantage of the professor’s office hours. Meeting with the professor can only benefit you in the end. If you ever get to a point where you are stuck and they know that you take pride in your work, they will do whatever they can to help you succeed.
Be prepared to feel a bit overwhelmed. Expect to have moments when everything feels like it might be too much. There are plenty of things going on in your life right now. So, be prepared to feel completely unprepared and just know that you are not alone!
