One of the perks of living in NYC is that we get to experience so many amazing events held around town. This month I got a chance to be part of one that was very motivating and inspiring: the Cosmo Fun Fearless Life Conference. Cosmopolitan Magazine partnered with Maybelline and Express to put together an amazing weekend full of knowledge, fun and beauty. We even got awesome gifts throughout the event – LOVED IT!Read More

Well, I guess fall finally arrived here in NYC. The temperatures dropped (A LOT), and the leaves are slowly changing colors and letting go of their branches. Winter will approach soon, but before that even happens, we might as well enjoy this season since it’s so beautiful and so full of things to do.Read More
Am I the only one who has mixed feelings about going back to school? I know it is such an exciting time to see everyone again, take the classes we chose back in the spring, and get involved in campus activities. However, it still means summer is over and the relaxing moments at the beach or in our home country are over, which can be really tough. But oh well, nothing we can do about that, right?Read More
Don’t you just love it when you feel like you are finally doing something right?
New York is a fun place to walk around. We see all kinds of people from all kinds of places wearing all kinds of things. There are too many trends for New Yorkers to follow in their day-to-day. Since there are so many different styles, this is a place where you can get away with wearing anything you want. However, there are some major trends that I would love to share with you.
If you thought that you would be the only one to benefit from studying fashion in the U.S. you should think twice, because those you love might just follow you all the way here to New York City.
Generally, I am a very reserved person – once I know you I will loosen up, but don’t expect me to go crazy talking to random people, it’s just not me!
This semester at LIM College, I am doing not one, but two, internships. The first one is at the GLO Beauty Bar, a hair salon where I have an administrative position. Since it is a new and small business, I am learning the ins and outs of getting a small business organized and growing its brand while remaining financially stable – which is hard to do in the beginning. I will have the opportunity to help with events and also some social media and PR tasks since I have some experience with that from previous internships.
This semester I really challenged myself by taking 17 credits. Wow, was I crazy? I think so. However, I am still working really hard to get great grades and learn as much as I can. With this many credits I have a good variety of classes on my schedule: Business Law, CAD, The Power of the Brand, Global Markets, Data Management and Career Pathing Internship.
Coming to the U.S. to study the business of fashion was the biggest decision I have ever made in my life. I say that because it’s not only about moving to another country alone, but it’s also about the many changes in every aspect of a person’s life. Support from family and friends is one of the most important things you need to be ready to do this. If they believe in you, help you and support your decision, it will make everything much easier.
