LIM College

This semester at LIM College, I am doing not one, but two, internships. The first one is at the GLO Beauty Bar, a hair salon where I have an administrative position. Since it is a new and small business, I am learning the ins and outs of getting a small business organized and growing its brand while remaining financially stable – which is hard to do in the beginning. I will have the opportunity to help with events and also some social media and PR tasks since I have some experience with that from previous internships.

My second internship is one that I have been doing for a while. I actually just got promoted to a PR Manager position this spring semester – I am so proud of myself. The company, called NewTress, is an online store for hair extensions. It has grown a lot in the past year and I am glad to say that I have contributed to that. I started as a blogger last summer and then searched for opportunities to grow within the company and learn more about a field that interests me so much.

In this new position I will be in charge of monitoring beauty blogs, searching for blog guests, and looking at beauty magazines’ editorial calendars so we can promote our product. I’ll also find ways to interact with other beauty experts through social media and create media clippings. I am so excited to learn so much about Public Relations. Everything I learn from my business classes this semester will definitely be applied to this new area.

I know that all of the skills I will develop through my internships will help me get a major Senior Co-op internship next year. I am so excited!
