Reflections on an Internship: Dressing for Success

The dress code at Saint Laurent, as at most high-end fashion houses, was elegant and formal – all black. All the employees dress in black pieces that must always be stylish and chic. The only way someone could wear a color other than black was if it was a Saint Laurent product, but the ones who did so were mostly sales associates. This is because they are on the sales floor all the time and wearing Saint Laurent clothing is another way to market the brand.

I loved waking up in the morning and going to work at my internship in an all-black outfit. It made me feel and act more professionally, as I presented a more sophisticated and elegant image.

Ruby completed an internship at Saint Laurent Paris during the Spring 2014 semester.
