First Fashion Week Experience: Behind the Scenes at doo.Ri

posted by LIM College

Well hello again! I can’t believe it has been one whole week since my last post. The days and weeks in New York City literally fly by! As an LIM College student, you are constantly on the move, riding the subway, taking this city’s streets by storm. Before you know it another day or deadline is out the window. This is especially true when the ever-so-exciting Fashion Week rolls around!

I was privileged to have the opportunity to volunteer at the Doo Ri Spring 2012 fashion show. I actually volunteered with Maguire Steele, the company that produced the show. A few of my friends and I placed all the seating and section cards and held section signs as the guests arrived. We got to stay and watch the show too!

Held at Eyebeam Studios, the venue was very cool. Brick walls and piping were exposed as stunning models presented beautifully draped and fluid. It was so eye- opening to see the production from behind the scenes.

I also volunteered at Fashion’s Night Out. As shoppers and celebrity chasers packed the streets of NYC, I checked in guests at Patricia’s Field’s store. Patricia Field is famously known for her costume design for the Sex and the City personalities. It was a great learning experience. Learning how to talk to people and how to act in certain situations is definitely essential in this industry, especially when meeting and greeting important industry leaders.

As Fashion Week nears its close, I remain completely satisfied with my first experience! I hope that you find inspiration in the thought of living in this city where history is made and creativity flows freely. Stay focused on your dreams and they will soon be “walking the runway” right before your eyes. Or better yet, the streets of NYC will be a runway of your own.

Get inspired,
XOXO
