Front Row at the LIM College Fashion Show

posted by LIM College

Hi everyone! Let me just start by thanking you for supporting my blog and reading my posts. I enjoy sharing my thoughts and experiences very much, and knowing that YOU are out there reading them is just more motivation for me! If you’re new here and this is your first read, I hope you continue to learn about me, LIM College and living in New York City. Enjoy!

Okay so now that I got my gushy “thank you” off my chest, let me fill you in on some fun stuff that has been going on in my world!

I was fortunate to attend the 68th Annual LIM College Fashion Show this past Friday, and as I sat in the front row, took pictures, rocked out to the great music, cheered on the models (my fellow peers) and looked around the beautiful Roseland Ballroom, I couldn’t help but think how excited I was to share my experience with you!

If you didn’t already know, each year, LIM College produces its very own fashion show. But the best part is, this fashion show is run by the students; LIM’s very own Fashion Show Production Club to be exact. Each year, the hard work, vision, and passion of students, with the help of faculty members, and industry professionals, collide to create a full-on fashion show.

Held at the Roseland Ballroom, every step of the process, from creating a theme and securing sponsors, to styling each look and selecting visuals and hair and make-up, combines on one evening. When the music starts and lights become bright, the artistic, creative, and business-savvy talent of LIM College’s very own students is showcased to a wide-eyed audience.

Temporis was the theme of this year’s show, meaning “To the End of Time “in Latin. It was meant to showcase the “spring 2012 trends with our own twist.” An array of floral prints, color blocked separates, long flowing skirts, geometric prints, and gorgeous gowns combined with larger than life hair and big bright lashes. With the lights turned up, and the DJs playing our very own “LIM mix,” models appeared amidst a backdrop designed by our own visual team.

As I sat in my seat clapping and yelling with pride at the quality show I had just witnessed, I realized that I wished for this—right here, right now, this moment—without even knowing it. I wished for friends that I love, a faculty that cares, for an institution that is sending talented individuals into the future world, and to experience moments that remind me of all the opportunity I have at the tips of my fingers. I knew there was treasure here in New York City, at LIM College, and on that night, April 13th 2012, I found it—and I think countless others found it too. It was in the eyes of the audience, in the hard work of the team that produced a show and a night that many will hold onto.

I know that wherever you are, wherever in the world you are reading this from, you have big dreams and big hopes. Have faith in them. Believe in them. No dream is too big. No goal is out of reach. Decide what you want to achieve and make it happen. One day, maybe today, maybe tomorrow, maybe a year or two down the road, you will, with your eyes wide open, realize wow, I’m where I wanted to be. Trust me, the feeling is incredible.

Keep your eyes on the prize and find it. xoxo
