Discovering the Lower East Side

It was my friend’s birthday and we ventured down to the Lower East Side (LES). I had never really been to that area of New York before. Mostly because it has a reputation of being a destination for the “hip” crowd; therefore, I felt like I would be a fish out of water if I were to hang out on the LES because I do not have the Olsen twins kind of bohemian style, nor do I participate in any sort of “hip” activities, because I am pretty much a Jersey girl who has no problem spending my spare time “down the shore.”

However, to my surprise, I loved everything about the Lower East Side! Let me repeat…I absolutely LOVED it! It’s the perfect area for college kids and young 20-somethings to go and hang out. Just by walking around you can find awesome boutiques, vintage stores, bars, and restaurants. We stumbled upon a restaurant called Frankie’s 17, which is located on Clinton St. This place is a really great place to go on a date because it’s super small and intimate. It has a really European vibe, which I adored…even the restroom was called the "water closet." Not only is the place super cute, but the food is affordable AND delicious! I had sweet potato and sage ravioli and it was so good, I dreamt about it when I went home. However, let me warn you…if you are the kind of person who likes a lot of choices when you go out to dinner you would not be happy here because the menu is one page, which is why I loved it, because I am so indecisive.

Anyway, it was nice to have at least one fun day, but now it’s back to reality because of finals and all these final projects!
