Museum Mania

So, in my last entry, I said I would write about internships and give some advice, but I decided to take a little detour this week because it’s my birthday weekend! Yes, I have officially turned 21, so now I can approach the menacing doormen that guard clubs and not worry about them turning me away. It’s just weird because I feel a lot older than 21, partly because I feel more mature than most of my peers due to my lofty ambitions.

Unfortunately, I do not have any crazy stories about a wild weekend in New York because I’m bombarded with schoolwork. In addition, the tri-state area experienced a monsoon this weekend, so I wasn’t really up for walking around the city and looking like a wet dog.  However, I did go to the Museum of Natural History this weekend because they have an awesome butterfly conservatory exhibit where live butterflies just fly around you.

Just a quick tip…museums are the best places to go when you are a broke college student like myself. Admission prices for museums are “suggested admissions,” which means you can pay what you wish for your ticket. So for two dollars, you can go to pretty much any museum in the city and stay there all day.

I know, you are probably thinking that museums are boring…I mean, just walking around a big building all day and looking at stuff doesn’t sound so exciting. But you would be surprised how much fun you can have, especially if you bring a friend with you. You unintentionally learn things because you see things that catch your eye and then you read about them. The Museum of Natural History is my personal favorite because it’s really interactive and the exhibits are always changing.

Anyway, the next time you’re in the city, go to the museum!  Maybe I will even run into you there! As always, if you have any questions just Facebook me. As for now, I’m going to enjoy the fruits of being 21…
