Making the Switch to Visual Merchandising

posted by LIM College

I’m in my third year at LIM College and just this year I decided to take the plunge to switch my major to Visual Merchandising. So many people said it was foolish to make the change so late in the game, but there were a select few who reminded me that if this is my passion it would be worth it. But, boy am I glad I went with my gut and the quality over quantity rule when it came to the advice I received on this matter.

When it comes down to it, you will struggle and you will have times of doubt when you’re really trying to succeed. When you’re pushing for what you truly want and are passionate about, you’ll experience every emotion on the scale. Remember to weigh the positives against the negatives and enhance the fire inside yourself that helps you to find hope overshadowing your doubt. The harder you work, the further you will go.

They say without struggle there is no progress. This can be applied quite literally to the physical tolls we endure through the processes of progression as human beings. But honestly, this mantra is suitable for almost all obstacles we face. What’s easily attained is easily lost.

Therefore, the harder you work and the more you go through in the process of truly earning something, the more apt you are to keep hold of it. The hardships we face and push through with a brave face are simply interesting additions to our success stories. When we’re at the peak of our dreams, as they become our reality, we can glance back at the path that led us to where we stand now and admire the drive we had to fuel through to the point where we can laugh at the anthills we perceived to be mountains.
