Some may dread it, but the programs involved have become essential for many jobs in the fashion industry, even if they are not directly involved with design. Whenever new ideas are developed these days, CAD is often the medium through which they are presented. The program also makes it much easier to send a technical spec sheet to manufactures overseas, and to ensure that a particular garment is produced correctly. There are also a number of fashion-related computer systems and programming that all revolve completely around new technology.

I have been tutoring CAD for a few semesters and find it very rewarding to learn more about the program myself and help others as well. If you love computers, design, and recognize that training and teaching are abilities that every employer wants in employees, I would highly recommend tutoring if you are invited by professors to do it.

In my life I have used CAD to boost my portfolio and create story boards for an animation to follow a children’s book. So no matter what your profession you will find that you are face to face with technology.
