As the new academic year gets underway, I’d like to encourage all of our students to get involved in the LIM community. Whether you’re a freshman or about to graduate, transferring in from another school, or spending a semester here as part of an international exchange, being involved on campus can greatly enhance your experience.
There are a wide range of clubs and organizations you can join. We have a phenomenal Dance Team. Our student-run magazine, The Lexington Line, offers opportunities to have your writing and photography published in print and online. The Fashion Show Production Club puts on a professional-level event for an audience of more than a thousand every spring.
Our three newest groups on campus are the Philanthropy Club, the Cosmetics Club, and the Gay – Straight Alliance. And there’s always room for more. If you can’t find a club or organization that fits your interests, contact the Office of Student Life and begin the process of starting your own.
Joining a campus organization is a great way to meet new people and have fun. There are also some practical advantages. Many employers look for leadership potential when they’re hiring. So your involvement with a club or organization may not only be beneficial to your experience as a student, it might also help give you a leg up when you’re looking for that dream job or internship.
