As we near the conclusion of the semester, and the end of 2014, I’d like to share some highlights from the past few months. On a campus as busy as ours -- and with students, faculty and staff as talented as ours – I can’t possibly hope to cover it all. Yet I do want to recognize some important student activities and achievements.
As usual, students in our Visual Merchandising program were extremely busy getting invaluable experience in the field. They created displays for the New York Festival of Lights, the PAVE gala, the Interlude art, music and dance event, and the Fashion Center Business Improvement District, among other exciting projects.
At the end of October, a group of 10 LIM students demonstrated their skill and professionalism in Amazon Fashion’s Studio Sessions competition, with our womenswear team taking second place in their category. This fall also saw the launch of The Lexington Line, a dynamic new student-produced online magazine.
LIM College students also won a variety of prestigious scholarships. Four received Black Retail Action Group (BRAG) scholarships, one is a finalist for the National Retail Federation Foundation’s Next Generation Scholarship, and an LIM student qualified as a finalist for the YMA Fashion Scholarship Fund’s Geoffrey Beene National Scholarship.
Of course, all of these achievements were in some way facilitated and supported by our dedicated faculty and staff. Thank you all - every day I am truly grateful for your inspiration and commitment. May everyone enjoy a happy, healthy, and safe holiday season.
