LIM College was recently named to Phi Theta Kappa’s inaugural Excellence in Community College Transfer Honor Roll. This new program identifies four-year colleges and universities offering exemplary programs, initiatives and benefits for students who transfer in from community colleges.
Being selected as part of this cohort is a tremendous honor, as Phi Theta Kappa is the oldest, largest and most prestigious honor society recognizing students who pursue two-year degrees. LIM College was one of only 40 institutions nationwide named to the list.
Transfer students make up a sizable portion of LIM’s student body. Accordingly, we value their unique experience and prioritize their achievement. Our goal is to make transfer students’ transition to our community seamless, and to provide the most supportive environment possible for pursuing an education in the business of fashion.
For example, each semester we hold a special event for transfer students called “The Real Transfers of LIM.” It brings together incoming, current and alumni transfer students for a fun evening of networking and sharing personal experiences, with an emphasis on career-building opportunities.
I would like to thank our Transfer Admissions team — Senior Associate Director of Admissions Anthony Urmey, Assistant Director of Admissions Laura Healy and Associate Dean of Academic Affairs Dr. Patricia Fitzmaurice — for assembling an application that identified the engagement, collaboration, impact and accomplishments related to the transfer of community college students into LIM.
We are proud to be recognized as a college that understands the needs of community college students and we are committed to going the extra mile to ensure their continued success.
