Comprehensive career management services have long been a distinctive feature of an LIM College education. This semester is no exception, as our Department of Experiential Education & Career Management (EECM) has a myriad of activities and opportunities for students to take advantage of.
On September 2, EECM, in conjunction with the Office of Student Life and the Office of Housing & Residence Life, held the first “Amazing Career Race.” Patterned after the popular TV show, teams of students raced through a series of stations in all four campus buildings to test their career and professional development knowledge. Faculty and staff members served as judges and the first-place pair, Megan Hartman and Tifannie Kramer, won ipad-minis.
Later in the month, freshmen and transfer students joined EECM for “Fresh Meet.” New students got the scoop from juniors and seniors about internships, choosing a major, and their favorite professors — all while snacking on healthy food.
EECM also introduced new walk-in hours this semester, for both undergraduate and graduate students. Through express 10-minute appointments, there’s now another convenient way for students to get their career-related questions answered or have a quick resume review.
October is Career Management Month at LIM. Taking advantage of our location at the center of the fashion world, we expect to host between 90 and 100 employers on campus to meet with students about career paths, internships and employment. Events include our annual Fall Career Fair, panel discussions, networking events, and employer information sessions. I look forward to the wonderful opportunities these activities will bring for so many of our students.
