Welcome – and Welcome Back
posted by LIM College
Believe it or not, the Fall 2014 semester is already underway. Welcome, new students and faculty and welcome back, returning students and faculty.
Things here got off to an invigorating start as our community turned out in force for the annual Street Fair in front of the LIM College Townhouse on East 53rd Street between Madison and 5th Avenues.
Thirteen of our staff members, including yours truly, lined up to take on the “Ice Bucket Challenge” together after being nominated by our students. We gave the crowd a good show, but much more importantly, raised funds for the ALS Foundation and their fight against amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. I hope this challenge will inspire the LIM College community to volunteer their time and get involved on an ongoing basis with the many philanthropic and community organizations that need help.
As LIM College celebrates its 75th birthday next month, we hope to become even more visible to NYC residents and visitors alike. If you’re out and about in midtown Manhattan, be on the lookout for LIM College lamppost banners in the vicinity of our three academic buildings. Posters featuring LIM College students will also be placed within the NYC transit system (see left), and in September, a 26-foot by 20-foot LIM College brand image will appear on the side of a building at Seventh Avenue and West 36th Street.
As always, we have a lot to look forward to this semester, including our annual Fashion: Now & Then conference, an impressive slate of guest speakers from the fashion and related industries, and Family & Friends weekend in October. We’re also excited about the launch of our Master of Professional Studies in Visual Merchandising and Bachelor of Science in International Business programs.
I will continue to share updates on what’s happening at the College throughout the coming months and I wish you all the best as the new academic year begins.
