During the Senior Co-Op, you have a full schedule. Interning full-time Monday through Thursday, and in classes all day Friday, you will never be more exhausted in your life. Finding the time to get all your work done, along with time for yourself is difficult.

What I have come to realize what works for me is trying to get my work done during the week. When I get back from my internship, I get some dinner, then relax a bit to decompress from the day. After that I work on my homework.

Spacing it out throughout the week makes it easier and less stressful. I don’t have to worry about making sure everything is finished on time at the last minute and I don’t have to work on everything all at once.

I’m lucky to be able to have weekends to myself. Getting work done during the week also lets this happen so I can spend time with family, friends, and boyfriend and not worry about the work that is unfinished. It gives me a chance to recharge from the week and let go of any negative events that may have occurred, think of the positives, as well as giving me the ability to look at what is to come for the week ahead.

Writing down everything you need to do is very, very helpful. Although you may have a wonderful memory and remember everything you need to do or what people have told you; I guarantee you will forget something. I write out my plan for everyday of the week so when I am looking it over, I know what I need to do even if I want to fall into my bed by the end of the day.

Using class time wisely in your Capstone helps tremendously too. This gives you the ability to be with your group and understand what needs to be done, and not have to start the week by adding more pressure of trying to find time to meet with your group to get your work done. It is a huge project, so take advantage of the time that is given to you.

Most importantly, at the end of all of this...Don’t forget to breathe. It will get done.
