Must-Haves for Virtual Students

The new normal for many college students might be attending zoom classes all day.

Virtual Learning

I know that being stuck at home every day can be challenging. I recommend going outside now and then throughout the day. Getting out of your room aka your “new classroom” and stretching your legs for a bit is super important. It is essential to keep organized and on top of your schoolwork during this time, even though it might be very hard. This will get better, and hopefully, we will all be able to have in-person classes, whether that be in a few months or a year.

Here are a few things I have found to make college at the homeless painful and challenging. Click on the photos below for a link to that item.

Bed Desk

A bed desk could help students who might not have a desk in their room or have any room for a desk. It is also useful for when you have a zoom class a little early, a day you do not feel well, or a day where students are presenting, and you can lounge and listen in bed.

Lounge Wear

I recommend getting ready in the morning for the days that you must be present on a zoom call. That does not mean you have to put on sneakers and jeans though. I think it is realistic to say that most students will be wearing an appropriate top and PJ bottoms for zoom classes. Here are a few loungewear sets that are zoom appropriate.

Blue Light Glasses

Using a laptop every day can cause damage to your eyes, because of the light you stare at throughout the day. Using blue light blocking glasses can prevent headaches and eye drainage from using your laptop all day.

Headphones

Headphones and earbuds are a great option for zoom classes. Headphones with a microphone will ensure that you can hear everyone, and everyone can hear you during class.

Comfortable Desk Chair

If you will be sitting at your desk or the kitchen table, I recommend investing in a good chair cushion or a comfortable desk chair. If you will be sitting for a while you might as well be comfortable.

Diffuser

When I am working on schoolwork, I like to use my essential oil diffuser with peppermint or lavender oil. Peppermint is supposedly supposed to make you focused, while lavender calms you. I do just like to make my room smell nice, especially when I am spending most of my day there.
