This month in What's to Love at LIM, we're honoring a time-honored tradition at LIM College that our students, faculty, and staff look forward to every year: our annual student fashion show. If you end up studying at LIM, you could be a part of this fabulous event, too—so here's what you need to know.
It's completely student-run. From concept to completion, the annual fashion show is put together by students in LIM's Fashion Show Production Club, who are eager to take what they've been learning in their classes and put it into action. They visit showrooms, fit clothes, market the event, run rehearsals, and consider everything from invites to music to lighting.
It's a big deal. The annual show regularly draws an audience of over 1,000 through ticket sales, and last year, Kelly Cutrone—fashion publicist, TV personality, and author—served as the celebrity guest host. We even have a dedicated Twitter stream for it; check out @LIMFashionShow for the latest updates on this year's 73rd event, which is around the corner on March 24 at the Hammerstein Ballroom in Manhattan. (Tickets are available here!)
You're going to love it. Every year, our show offers audiences something different, exciting, and unique. Held at the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum in NYC, our 2016 fashion show was titled "GENURBAN" and offered a progressive and conceptual commentary on society and the milennial generation. The LIM College Dance Team opened the show with a special performance, and the crowds loved every minute.
