LIM College

Why did I choose LIM College? Well, when I first found out about the school, I had absolutely no idea about what I wanted to do as a career. I was a junior, and it was the very beginning of the year. At that time, I thought I wanted to get into architecture. I also had a new found love for makeup, and I was considering being a makeup artist. LIM had a table at my school’s college fair, and a friend of mine was standing at the table. I had no clue what the school had to offer, but I was interested since my friend was speaking to an LIM representative.

Not too long into the conversation with the LIM representative, I realized that I never considered a career in fashion. I told the representative that I wanted to somehow pursue a career in cosmetics. To my surprise, I was told that LIM has a cosmetics and fragrance marketing program. Although I wanted to be a makeup artist, I was very intrigued since I never thought about what a career in cosmetics marketing would be like. It seemed interesting, and I wanted to know more.

In July, going into my senior year of high school, I came to an open house at LIM. Although at first I was a little overwhelmed since there was a lot of information being thrown at me, I really liked the school. I liked how small it is, and how everyone emphasized the small class sizes. All the students spoke very highly of the school, and they all seemed really happy with their decision to come here.

When it came time to apply to colleges, I still wasn’t sure I wanted to come here. At the time, I was torn between LIM and a larger school in NYC. Although the tuition would have been great, I would be in big classes, which I wasn’t really happy about. Also, at the other school, I would have had to declare a major. That scared me, since I wasn’t really sure about what I wanted to do. I like how LIM offers introductory level courses to all of the majors offered here.

By the time I started getting my acceptance or rejection letters, I basically already knew I wanted to come to LIM. I was wait-listed for the other school, but by the time I found out about that, I already knew I was going to attend LIM.

Like I said earlier, I love how small LIM is. I really feel like I am getting a good, individualized education. All of my professors are super nice and really helpful. I never hesitate to ask them a question, which is something I never did during high school. I also feel that my classmates are great! I’m not afraid to express my ideas, since everyone is really supportive. I’m having a great time at LIM, and I have to say, deciding to come to LIM was the best decision of my life.
