Fashion Styling Class

Hey there, it's been another crazy week here in the big city of New York. I think it's only fair to tell you about some experiences at school after I've told you about my intern life.

Last year I took a Fashion Styling class here at LIM College and it was definitely a fun class to look forward to after a week of regular classes. We had several different projects throughout the semester. There was a styling competition held by Lord & Taylor in which 2 styling classes each from our school and FIT participated. Each of us had to style a look and whoever made it to the top ten from voting on Facebook had their look displayed in the window of Lord & Taylor's Fifth Avenue store for final voting. One of my classmates eventually won the competition and a $10,000 scholarship.

The exam for the class was very interactive and hands-on. Our class split into 3 groups and each of us had to style our photo shoot based on our fashion sense and what we learned from the class. We had a photographer from the industry and models that we found through different resources. The final shoot came out amazing and everyone had fun doing it.

There might be classes like this at other colleges but I am not sure those students experienced what I have at LIM College. It really gave me an insider's view of the industry and I learned what the responsibilities are for different people in the fashion business. It was truly an eye-opening experience.

Now I have to head out to do some shopping, we are in NYC after all...

Until next time. Stay tuned.
