3 Meals a Day: My Favorite Places to Eat in NYC

I think there might be only one thing that I love more than fashion, and that is food!  I’m a total foodie, but not one of those snobby food admirers. I don’t evaluate everything I eat based on the spices, ingredients, texture, and whatnot. When eating in the city, I only judge food based on two criteria: Is it cheap and does it taste good?  I have eaten at many places around the city and I am going to share with you my absolute favorite places.

Breakfast – Pinnacle (Third Ave. between 45th and 46th Sts.) – This place is right by Maxwell Hall, so it’s a perfect spot to stop by on your way to class. It’s kind of sad that all of the people that work here know me by name because I go there so much. But once you have a taste of their perfectly-made bagels, you might be stopping here for breakfast more than me! It’s cheap ($1.75 for a plain toasted bagel with cream cheese) and everything tastes amazing. They also serve lunch here and they have everything from sandwiches to soup to mac and cheese.

Lunch – Margon (West 46th St. between 6th and 7th Aves.) – Although it is a little bit of a walk from the Fifth Avenue building, it is totally worth it. Margon specializes in Cuban food and it is totally authentic -- it has received the seal of approval from my Mom, who is from Cuba. This place is really popular. There is usually a line out the door around lunchtime. It is really small inside and you will feel like a sardine, but it won’t matter because you will be in food bliss.  Their best deal is a Cuban sandwich with a side of rice and beans and a can of soda for only $9!  My favorite is the pernil (roasted pork), rice and beans, and fried bananas. This meal costs about $11.

Dinner – Sevilla (on the corner of West 4th and Charles St.)
– Since this place is a little more on the expensive side, make sure you eat dinner here when your parents come to visit and pay for dinner. You could also come here with a bunch of friends to just eat appetizers (the croquettas are the best!) and drink pitchers of sangria (best way to spend $20). The slightly higher prices are totally worth it, since every single thing on the menu tastes so good, it will blow your mind.  I can’t even recommend my favorite dish because everything is my favorite here!

If you try out any of these places, let me know how you like them.
