So how did I end up interviewing celebrities on the red carpet at Fashion Group International’s (FGI) Night of Stars? Well, last year I had the pleasure of meeting Prof. Maryanne Grisz, who was the faculty advisor for LIM College’s Fashion Show. I was a Stage Director for the show, so we worked together very closely.
Over the summer I received an email from Prof. Grisz asking if I would like to be a part of the FGI “Street Style Team” doing social media for Fashion Week. After having a great experience doing social media for FGI, I was so pleased to be invited back to the Night of Stars Event to do more of it.
When I first arrived at the event I took some pictures and loaded them onto the FGI Instagram and Twitter feeds. About an hour later the house videographer needed someone to interview celebrities on the red carpet. With encouragement from Prof. Grisz, I took on this new role. Little did I know what a great experience it would be.
While on the red carpet I was able to interview fashion celebrities such as Marc Jacobs, Kate Upton, Karlie Kloss, Alexa Chung, Angela Missoni and more. It was an experience that I was so grateful to fall into. Never would I have imagined that I was going to meet and speak to the people I did that night. This experience taught me that opportunities are what you make of them.
