Excelling at Excel

Today I got to work early so I could start my morning reports and have them ready to be sent out right away. This was the first time I got to experience the systems not working correctly. I asked my boss if it was just my computer and she told me that every morning the IT department runs the new reports early and sometimes the system either crashes for a little while or everything just isn’t ready yet.

So while I waited for the system to load back up, I went back to my downtime project and began the next half of it. This time I was looking up transfers from division 3. I input these transfers into a Excel document my boss could look over and then decide what steps to take next with projecting what transfers should be taken for the next season.

Once I finished this my boss was very happy. She said I am speedy and got this done more quickly than she thought I would. I did not get to see the process of how she projected out because I had to move onto another project for another planner, but she promised to show me how she used the information another day.

Below is an example of the Excel document I created for the transfers by department then by brand. You can see how I keyed in the number of the transfer into the right quarter where the transfers were being sent out. I also separated it by tabs for women’s and for men’s so my boss could look at the document more easily and quickly.
