Most of the time, incoming freshman or transfer students know few people or even no one. You’re thrown into this new school with all of these new responsibilities and adjusting can be a little tricky.
Luckily, everyone’s going through the same thing, or has gone through it already. When you move into the dorms, you’re floor mates and become your new family. You’ll see them at their best and their worst. But no matter if their dolled-up or worn down, you’ll never miss a smile, a warm-hearted conversation or a two am ice-cream buddy. Not to mention immediately having a knowledgeable RA in your corner.
Excuse me for getting technical, but studies have shown students that live on campus have a better overall GPA then students who don’t. Probably because the dorms come with a built-in mini-library and there’s a good chance that someone in your class lives right down the hall.
As an 18 year old fresh out of high school, you have better things to worry about than paying bills on time. The Residence Hall lets you ease into living on your own instead of throwing you into an unfurnished apartment alone. You’ll get to do grown-upy things, like grocery shop and cook, but you won’t have to worry about all the adult responsibilities yet.
A lot of people coming into LIM are worried they are missing out on a traditional college experience. But if you go to LIM, you’re anything but traditional: you’re dedicated, ambitious, and well dressed. The residence hall still lets you have a taste of the campus lifestyle, while still being able to pursue your dream in the big apple.
Going into college will be one of the most exciting and terrifying times in your life and going to New York is an adventure in itself. But with the comfort and support of 200 of your new closest friends, don’t worry, you’ll be just fine.
