I found out about Makeup Forever HD Foundation through many of my favorite makeup gurus on YouTube. One makeup guru in particular, Gossmakeupartist, is a huge fan of this foundation. Every review online was positive. So when I did my own makeup for my senior prom this past spring, I thought this foundation would be a good choice.
The texture of this foundation is great. The formula offers a medium coverage and also has a demi-matte finish that looks very natural. The foundation has great longevity, and it does not oxidize. I also found that it does not need to be set with powder, since it has pretty good shine control, and it holds up to almost anything Manhattan can throw at me. In addition, it photographs beautifully because it has no SPF.
Upon trying it for the first time, I was very impressed. I have to say, the foundation really lives up to the hype. The foundation goes on very smoothly and blends easily. It is also very buildable; it doesn't look cakey. To me, the foundation actually looks like skin. It can be built up to an almost full coverage, or it can be sheered out to a light coverage. I personally like a nice medium coverage, so I apply this foundation with a dense buffing brush. It can also be applied with a standard foundation brush, a damp makeup sponge or a beauty blender.
Although I really love this foundation, there are a couple of negatives. The first con of this product is that the product is not a great foundation for people with dry skin. I have combination skin, and I find that the foundation looks very good on the more oily parts of my face. The foundation clings to the drier skin and makes it look worse than it looked without makeup. Another con of this product is the price. It is $42 a bottle. Although it is a great product, it is not the most affordable, especially if you are a college student on a tight budget.
Overall, I really like this foundation. I think it is a really great product, and I definitely am getting my money's worth. I will definitely buy it again.
