It's OK to Be a Straight-Up Tourist

After an exhausting week of classes our long weekend finally began! Today marked the equivalent of Independence Day so the whole city shut down for a massive parade.

I can honestly say I am completely grateful for the classes I’m taking – I’ve seen some of the most beautiful attractions Rome has to offer. This week I visited the Basilica of Saint Paul on the outskirts of Vatican City… and let me tell you, Italian subways are dirtier than Manhattan's, which blew my mind. I spent all morning roaming around the grounds of the Basilica admiring the frescos and marble that scaled the walls up to the adorned ceiling. Everything was jaw-dropping, even the precious little nuns.

I realized sometimes it’s OKAY to be a straight up tourist. For only 12 Euros they offer a 3-day entrance to go tour the Coliseum as well as the remains of the temples of Caesar and Augustus. I don’t even think I did that much walking in New York. Looks are not deceiving – it is exactly as huge as you would think. Time for a nap!
