You may not know him by name, but chances are you know him by face and all of his many accomplishments. Phillip Bloch is a true jack-of-all-trades. He is probably best known for his styling of pretty much every big celebrity out there, from Will and Jada Smith, to Sandra Bullock, Michael Jackson, Halle Berry, Salma Hayek, Vanessa Williams, Pamela Anderson and many, many others. And styling all these celebrities was just the beginning for Phillip Bloch.

I was lucky enough to meet Mr. Bloch at the new LIM College “Fashion Insiders” speaker series event on Oct. 14.  Since beginning in the fashion industry as a stylist, Phillip Bloch has also become a designer, writer, actor, and TV commentator. His work on VH1, MTV, CNN, and ABC as a fashion correspondent as well as for movies such as The Unseen and TV shows like Entourage showcase his ability to branch out from styling and to do everything extremely well.

This event featured a question and answer session, as well as a book signing, for his newest book, The Shopping Diet. In this book he writes about how to go on a "shopping diet." In these tough economic times he states that you don’t have to spend recklessly to look gorgeous and his book has remedies for the shopping addiction.

While at the event it was clear why Phillip Bloch has been so successful in his many ventures. Mr. Bloch tells it like it is and is not afraid to be himself. He even signed every person’s book with a personalized note. It is people like this in the fashion industry, who never lose their sense of self, who I look up to the most.  Even though Mr. Bloch has had enormous success in numerous fields, he is still extremely friendly, easy to talk to, and personable.
