Pulling Clothing and Getting the Look Book Ready for Fashion Week

posted by LIM College

Since I started my Work Project II internship I have learned so much about press relations, as well as many other aspects of the business I work in. Buckler is a relatively small menswear company based out of the Meatpacking District in New York City.  Although there are few employees, and I am the only intern, I learn a lot every day and try to come up with things to do.

For the most part, Buckler works a lot with stylists, magazines, modeling agencies and movies in terms of loaning clothing, so I get to do clothing pulls all the time. It’s kind of cool to think that the clothing that I pull for these industry people is going to be featured in movies, editorial shoots for magazines, models' books, and on celebrities. I’ve actually got to the point where my boss completely trusts me with the clothing I choose and hardly checks on what I pull.

I’ve also been able to work on the photo shoot for our Fall/Winter 2011 look book. The collection we are shooting right now is being shown at Fashion Week in February so we are making sure that all of the looks and garments are ready for the show and ready to be put into the look books for buyers, stylists and magazines to reference.

For each look we have to make absolutely sure that we have the exact right piece of clothing written down for the reference, as well as the exact right garment on the model so that nothing is confused when buyers look at the book. We also have a retail event coming up in a week or so for our Soho store which should be a good learning experience for me as well. Overall, I am very pleased with my internship so far and I look forward to the next few weeks leading up to Christmas.
