Senior Co-op: It All Comes Together

Even though I’ve done many internships during my years at LIM College, I wasn’t really sure how things would play out for the Senior Co-op. I am in the real world now—doing actual work, being responsible for tasks and feeling like part of a team.

The Senior Co-op internship requires students to work four days a week. I chose to work in the marketing department of a company called Domaine Select.

Domaine Select is a wine and spirits distributor and they have tons of work in the marketing department, especially in the social media department. Since I started in January I’ve created content calendars, covered events like workshops and tastings, as well as worked on a newsletter that the company wanted to start sending internally.

It’s incredible how I can actually apply in the workplace what I’ve learned all these years at LIM. It all looks like puzzle pieces, and I have to search for and find the right one when I am doing a task. I use research skills that I learned by doing projects at school. I also have done projects with Illustrator and Photoshop in my internships that reminded me of the CAD classes where I would get frustrated trying to create something cool.

The most important thing about this Senior Co-op experience is that I can feel that the end of an era is approaching, and I can almost taste being involved full-time in the workplace environment. As Professor Fradella said, “At this point in the semester we can see the light at the end of the tunnel…We will reach it soon enough.” I can’t wait to be called a young professional! Thank you LIM College for preparing me for this moment!
